TRINIDAD and Tobago will opened its borders to fully vaccinated citizens on July 17.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley at a news conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Saturday.
He said fully vaccinated citizens, non-vaccinated citizens and fully vaccinated non-nationals will be allowed to enter the country. The prime minister said that non-nations who were not vaccinated will not be allowed into the country in this arrangement.
Fully vaccinated people will not have to go into quarantine.
Dr Rowley said these people must also present a negative PCR test at least 72 hours before they enter the country.
He said fully vaccinated is defined as a person who has received the required number of doses of a World Health Organization-approved vaccine two week after the final dose.
Dr Rowley said an unvaccinated citizen of T&T will have to spend 14 days in state-supervised quarantine on arrival. These persons will also have to provide a negative PCR test.
He said non-nationals not vaccinated will not be allowed to entry at this time.
Dr Rowley said children with fully vaccinated parents will be allowed to go home with their parents.
He said a digitized system will be developed to assist these new measures.
The prime minister said there would be severe penalties for people want to break the rules.
Dr Rowley said only Government construction will open on July 5 and many of the other restrictions were left in place since primary school children were writing Secondary Entrance Examination on July 1.
