AS part of a school project, two police officers were pleasantly caught off-guard when their little cousins showed up at their workplace armed with an appreciation letter and drawings.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) posted the gesture on their Facebook page on Thursday.

WPC Danelle Stewart and  PC Justice Greene, of the Besson Street Police Station, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were almost left speechless, as Amiyah Porter, five, and Ahren Gajadhar, six, approached the officers to say how much they appreciated the hard work and commitment of police officers during the pandemic.

Amiyah and Ahren later revealed to the officers that the gesture was a part of their school project in which they were asked to show their appreciation to frontline workers and they chose the career of policing.

WPC Stewart said it was an act of kindness that they will never forget.

She said, “I felt really appreciated because you don’t get that love and support every day and sometimes not from those you think will appreciate your efforts.

“Though it is not why we do it, only a few will really say thanks for intervening, for listening, or simply for just showing up for them. And it was amazing to see that children, even during a pandemic, can say how much they appreciate how essential frontline workers are.”
