A Princes Town businessman who allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old boy has been charged.
Police reported that the accused, 58, was charged with one count of indecent assault and was granted bail in the sum $50,000 with a surety after appearing before Princes Town Magistrate Indira Misir-Gosine on Friday.
He must also remain 500 metres away from the victim and must have absolutely no contact, direct or indirectly, with the teen.
The charges were laid after a report was made on December 11, 2020 to the Princes Town Police Station.
The report alleges that the teen went into a store in Princes Town to purchase items. At the shop he met the proprietor who took him to a room upstairs the store and squeezed his genitals.
Investigations by acting Cpl Sinclair of the Southern Division Child Protection Unit led to the arrest and charge of the business owner on Thursday. The matter has been adjourned to May 7, 2021.
