FOUR men are now in police custody following the kidnapping of 23-year-old Andrea Bharatt on Friday.
Investigators said Police Commissioner Gary Griffith was spearheading the investigation which led to the men ages 20 to 30 years being held.
Bharatt is still missing.
They were held on Sunday morning by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS).
Police raided two houses –in Petit Bourg and Malabar – and arrested the men.
A source close to the investigation said items belonging to Bharatt was found at both locations.
The clerk at the Arima Magistrates’ Court took a taxi on Friday along with another employee at King Street, Arima.
Her friend was dropped off in Cleaver Heights but Bharatt never reached home. Her father called her cellphone around 7.30pm on Friday and a male voice told her father that if he did not pay some money, he would cut off Bharatt’s ears.
A report was made to the Arima police station.
Investigators secured CCTV footage of the car in the Cleaver Heights. They said the driver was an African male, dark complexion and slim built and a second passenger also of African descent, dark complexion and medium built.
