In December 2021, National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds announced that a six-member team, comprising former police officers ACP Wellington Virgil, retired ACP Raymond Craig and retired Inspector Lennard Charles would conduct an audit of the firearms, ammunition and aspects of the FULs issued in the past three years.
Before this, retired Appeal Court Judge Stanley John investigated allegations of corruption into the FUL under the purview of the Police Service Commission.
And former police commissioner Gary Griffith has filed an injunction preventing Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley from laying the firearms audit in Parliament.
