MORE than 600,000 people in Trinidad and Tobago are either hypertensive or diabetic.
This was revealed by Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh at the virtual news conference on Thursday.
He said 341,000 or 23.6 % of the population were diagnosed with hypertension.
Deyalsingh also noted that 266,000 or 20.5% of the population suffer with diabetes and many may not be aware, thus this figure could be much higher.
He added that 266,000 (20.5 percent) of the population suffer from diabetes, saying that the figure is probably an underestimation as many people may not be aware they have diabetes.
