5 Held, 2 Guns, Bullets Seized

FIVE suspects were arrested and two firearms and quantities of ammunition seized, by officers during ongoing Operation Blue Line exercises conducted across the country on Wednesday and Thursday morning.

According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) on Thursday, officers of the St James Criminal Investigations Department, conducted an exercise between 2 am and 4.30 am, on Thursday and arrested two suspects, ages 24 and 20, both of Cocorite, for possession of 14 rounds of ammunition.

In a separate exercise, in the North Eastern Division, officers of the Blanchisseuse Police Station were on mobile patrol around 1 pm, on Wednesday when they attempted to apprehend a male suspect.

On seeing the officers, the man allegedly dropped a bag he was carrying and ran off.

A search of the bag resulted in one pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition and a revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition being discovered.

Meanwhile, in the South Western Division, Task Force officers along with personnel of the Penal, Siparia, Fyzabad and Oropouche stations conducted an exercise around 9:30 pm, yesterday.

During the exercise, the officers stopped a blue Suzuki Swift motor vehicle with three male occupants.

A search of the vehicle resulted in one round of ammunition being found.

The three men, ages, 37 to 50, of San Fernando, Moruga and Siparia, were arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
