FIVE individuals faced the Tobago High Court on a range of charges, including robbery and larceny.
On November 22, 2024, Kody Bailey, a 21-year-old resident of Mt. St. George, was charged with multiple offenses including robbery with violence, malicious wounding, common assault, and possession of ammunition related to an incident in the district on November 11.
Appearing before Master Sarah De Silva, Bailey pleaded not guilty and was denied bail. The charges were brought against him by WPC Foster Bernard of the Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Also appearing on the same day was 19-year-old Jaheim Greig, also from Mt. St. George. Greig faced charges of larceny dwelling house and housebreaking and larceny, stemming from incidents that occurred in September and October.
He pleaded guilty to the larceny charge and received a sentence of three months’ hard labor. The court postponed sentencing for the House Breaking charge. The charges against Greig were laid by PCs Balfour and James of the Scarborough CID.
In another case, Desean James, a 44-year-old from Coral Gardens, Buccoo, was charged with larceny. He also appeared before Master De Silva and pleaded not guilty. James was granted bail set at $75,000 with surety, with charges filed by WPC Barton of Shirvan Road CID.
Mossiah Villafana, a 23-year-old from La Brea, was charged with Robbery with Aggravation related to an incident at a jewellery store in the Lowlands district in August 2024. He was not required to plead in court and was denied bail, with the charge laid by WPC Cunningham of Shirvan Road CID.
Additionally, a 13-year-old boy from Tobago was charged with store breaking and larceny for an incident that occurred on November 17, 2024, in Crown Point. The minor pleaded guilty and is currently awaiting sentencing. The charge was filed by PC Ferguson of Shirvan Road CID.
