THE Ministry of Health has recorded 48 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday morning.
In its latest update, the ministry noted that the samples that tested positive were taken from August 5 to 13.
Of the 48 cases, 29 were pending epidemiological investigation, 18 were contacts of recently positive Covid-19 patients and one was tested in a private lab.
The release stated that there were now 129 active Covid-19 patients with 57 patients en route or being admitted to hospital and the 48 new patients were being processed for admission.
It stated that 104 were at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility with three in intensive care and two in the high dependency unit.
The release stated that 25 were in the Caura Hospital.
It stated that 13, 375 samples were submitted at the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and the University of the West Indies site.
The number of patients who have been tested were 11,725 with 1,650 of them having repeated tests.
The release stated that 474 samples have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago.
There were now 325 active Covid-19 cases, the ministry stated.
There were two deaths reported on Friday bringing the total number to ten while 139 patients have been discharged.
According to the ministry, there were 91 people in stepdown facilities – 20 at Brooklyn in Sangre Grande, 31 at Balandra and 40 at the National Racquet Centre in Tarcarigua.
