THE educational district of St George East for the week May 2 to May 8 recorded the highest number of positive Covid-19 cases in the school system.
This was revealed by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Wednesday.
He said St George East reported 83 positive cases out of 30 schools with persons in 29 schools being tested.
Following closely was the Port-of-Spain and Environs district with 82 cases being reported out of 34 schools. Testing was conducted in 41 schools.
The information was supplied by the Ministry of Education and Deyalsingh gave the details during the Ministry of Health’s virtual media conference.
The districts of Victoria and Caroni both recorded 44 cases.
Two districts, St Patrick and North Eastern reported 19 cases and South Eastern district reported the lowest number of cases -15.
The total number of positive cases in schools for the period May 2 to May 8 was 306, there were 144 schools with positive cases and 186 where students were tested, Deyalsingh said.
At last week’s Covid-19 update, Deyalsingh said that from April 25 to April 29, 243 schools reported 288 positive cases.
