A cache of weapons that included three submachine guns was found at the house of 54-year-old Couva residence on Wednesday.
Police reported on Thursday that officers of the Central Division during an Operation Strike Back 3 exercise found seven firearms as well as quantities of ammunition at the suspect’s home.
Senior Superintendent Curt Simon, Supt Pierre, and Assistant Superintendent Raghoo under the supervision of Sergeant Persad and acting Sgt Modeste, executed the search warrant between 6pm and 9pm on Wednesday and found the heavy weaponry on the premises.
The list included, one pump-action shotgun, one rifle, one AK-47 rifle, one submachine gun, one mini Uzi submachine gun, one Mac 10 submachine gun, one pistol, 20 magazines and one box containing 308 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was previously held following a report of wounding with intent on Monday and a pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition was seized from his possession upon his arrest.
