THREE Ste Madeleine men have been charged with stealing 38 metres of copper cable from Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT).
Anthony Scott, 68, Richard Rambhajan, 55 and Sherwin Swan, 25, all of the Ste Madeleine, were charged with larceny of fixtures by PC Boodram on Wednesday.
They were arrested and charged by officers of the Southern Division on Wednesday morning after they were allegedly caught stealing the cable which is the property of TSTT
It is being alleged that while on patrol around 3.45 am on Wednesday officers saw a man on a ladder with a yellow hacksaw blade cutting a black cable attached to a wooden pole at the Ste Madeline Grounds.
Police claimed the ladder was being held by another man, while a third man was standing nearby with a pair of bolt cutters in his hands.
The men were arrested and personnel from TSTT were contacted.
The cable was identified as being 38 meters of 400 Pair TSTT Aerial Copper Cable, police said.
The three men were expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate on Thursday to answer to the charges.
