TWO vehicles, a quantity of 1,543 grammes of marijuana and three suspects were held during anti-crime exercises on Wednesday.
A release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated officers of the Port of Spain Investigation Operations Unit and Gang Intelligence Unit conducted an exercise around 3:30 am on Wednesday at the entrance of the Queens Park Savannah.
While conducting the exercise, officers arrested a suspect allegedly involved in larceny and robberies.
Also in Port of Spain during a street check, police stopped and searched an orange Kia Rio and found 62 grams of marijuana in the front pocket of the front seat passenger and 431 grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle.
The driver and passenger were arrested and are expected to be charged for possession of marijuana.
Meanwhile, in the Western Division, officers conducted a search at Andrew Trace, Blue Basin which resulted in the discovery of two stolen vehicles – a Nissan Sylphy, which was taken away at gunpoint on March 8 in the St James district and a Nissan Cube also taken at gunpoint on but on April 2 in the Marabella district.
Police said both vehicles were wrecked and taken to the West End Police Station. However upon further checks, 1,050 grammes of marijuana was found in the trunk of the Cube.
