27 of 189 Fully Vaccinated Covid-19 Deaths Had No Comorbidities

TWENTY-SEVEN out of 189 people who were full vaccinated and died of Covid-19 up to January 19, this year, had no comorbidities.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by AZP News on January 21, 2022.

Hypertension was the most popular ailment with 102 people having it and dying of Covid-19.

AZP News filed the request after trying on several occasions to find out what was the breakdown of the fully vaccinated deaths in terms of vaccine brands. The information on the deaths was released to AZP News on April 13 but the request on the comorbidities was received on April 20. The ministry apologised for the delay.

The ministry revealed that the 189 fully vaccinated Covid-19 deaths in terms of comorbidities were:

The ministry had revealed that the majority of people who died of Covid-19 and were fully vaccinated had taken the Sinopharm.

The information released to AZP News of the 189 fully vaccinated Covid-19 deaths that occurred as at January 19, 2022, and the brands administered were:

Sinopharm 150
AstraZeneca 23
Johnson & Johnson 10
Pfizer 2

Three of the people who died had two doses of Sinopharm and a booster while one had a booster after being fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca.

The ministry also revealed that there was an average of 89 days of a person dying after being fully vaccinated.

On June 3, 2021, Professor of Immunology, Faculty of Medical Sciences at The University of the West Indies (UWI) Michele Monteil said that the Sinopharm vaccine used widely in T&T to inoculate against Covid-19 has an efficacy rate of 78.1%.

This means it reduces the risk of getting Covid-19 by 78.1%, she said.

Health officials have always maintained that given the fact that the Sinopharm vaccine was the most popular brand in T&T, it would mean that the majority of fully-vaccinated deaths could be people who were vaccinated with it.
