2 Points for Tridents in First Game

THE Barbados Tridents are on the table with two points after defeating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by six runs in the second match of the CPL 2020 on Tuesday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

Batting first, the Tridents got off to a shaky start with their first three wickets falling with just eight runs on the board.

Kyle Mayers and captain Jason Holder steadied the 20-over innings with 37 and 38 runs respectively.

Mitchell Santner added 20 runs before he was caught by Rayad Emrit off the bowling of Sohail Tanvir.

The Tridents got to 153 for nine in their 20 overs.

The Patriots put up a good fight with 41 runs coming from the bat of Joshua Da Silva and 34 from Ben Dunk.

The other batsmen, while getting to double figures, were unable to phase the Tridents bowlers as they only got to 147 for five.

Santner and Rashid Khan took two wickets a piece.

The next two CPL matches will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba at 10 am and 5:30 pm on Wednesday.

The first game will see the Tridents playing against the St Lucia Zouks followed by Trinbago Knight Riders versus Jamaica Tallawahs.

Barbados Tridents 153/9 (Holder 38, Mayers 37, Rashid 26*; Emrit 2/16, Cottrell 2/16, Tanvir 2/25) beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 147/5 (Da Silva 41*, Dunk 34, Lynn 19; Santner 2/18, Rashid 2/27) by 6 runs.
