190,000 People Get Two Doses of Covid-19 Vaccines in T&T

TRINIDAD and Tobago has achieved 98.8% of the Government’s vaccination goal thus far.

This was revealed by the Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh at the Ministry of Health virtual presser on Wednesday.

Deyalsingh said, “This was part of the government’s first goal to vaccinate 188,900 persons with two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.”

He said 365,597 persons have received at least one dose of a vaccine to date.

Deyalsingh said, “This is not a victory nor is it the end of the line but rather; this is the first part of the relay as we are passing the baton now after we achieve our first goal hopefully by the end of today.”

The minister made reference to the Delta variant globally that has been affecting the unvaccinated which was described as the “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

He said, “We will be evolving the delivery of vaccines from next week.

“We will be having a different method of delivering vaccines, complementing the mass vaccination sites, drive-thrus, health centres and the public-private partnership as we move forward.

“Vaccines have always been part of our lives and saving our lives.”

Minister Deyalsingh stated that the government will continue to bring World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccines into the country which are safe and effective.

He also called on citizens to conduct their own research from creditable sources.
