FOURTEEN illegal immigrants were arrested in Erin earlier this week.
On Friday evening, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) reported that officers of the South Western Division arrested 14 illegal immigrants during an anti-crime exercise which place between 3 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday.
The TTPS stated that acting on information received, officers of the South Western Divisional Task Force proceeded to the coastline near the Erin Fishing Depot, where several Venezuelan nationals were observed.
Subsequent enquiries revealed that the individuals had entered the country illegally.
A total of sixteen persons—11 males and five females, including two infants, a teenager, and adults ranging in age from 18 to 47—were detained and taken to the Erin Police Station.
The Immigration Division was notified.
The exercise was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Thompson, Assistant Superintendents Forbes, Corrie, and Sylvan, and Inspectors Sirju and Prescott and supervised by Corporal Patrice.
