The release stated:

Prime Minister accepts resignation of Minister of Public Utilities Robert Le Hunte

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley accepted the resignation of Minister of Public Utilities Robert Le Hunte.

The resignation became effective yesterday, 16 May 2020.

The Prime Minister is in the process of making the necessary adjustments consequent to Mr Le Hunte’s resignation.

His resignation follows an Express editorial calling for National Security Minister Stuart Young to resign following statements he made about the visit of Venezuela Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and officials of Venezuela energy company PDVSA on March 27 when Trinidad and Tobago borders were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Reports also indicated that other Cabinet members approached Rowley following the editorial and wanted to know if he was going to call for Young’s resignation.
