Ministry Reports 50 Cases of Covid-19 from Samples Taken Since July 30

FIFTY Covid-19 positive cases are reported by the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

In its Saturday afternoon update, the ministry stated that 32 positive cases were reported at 5.53 pm but noted that these samples were taken during the period July 30 to August 5, 2020.

This was preceded by the morning update which reported 18 cases but also noted that these positive samples were taken during the period July 31, 2020 to present.

It stated, “Therefore this figure is not representative of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only.”

Of the 18 reported cases, one was imported, six are contacts of recently positive Covid-19 patients and 11 are pending epidemiological investigation.

The afternoon update noted that the of the 32 newly reported cases, 18 were contacts of recently positive Covid-19 patients and 14 were  pending epidemiological investigation.

There were now 132 active Covid-19 active cases.

This means that 10,609 samples have been tested positive by the Caribbean Public Health Agency and the University of the West Indies testing site at Mt Hope.

Therefore there are now 275 positive Covid-19 samples which have tested positive, the ministry noted.

There have been 135 discharges and deaths remain at eight.
