CUTTACK – A formidable 315 runs for five wickets by West Indies in their 50 overs proved not enough as India took the three-match One-Day International two games to one.

They won the decider on Sunday with eight balls remaining. Captain Viral Kohli top scored for his team with 85 from 81 balls with nine fours and no sixes. He was the man of the match.

Openers Rohit Sharma (63) and KL Rahul (77) laid the foundation for the successful chase with a first wicket stand of 122.

Ravindra Jadeja saw India home with an unbeaten 39.

Nicholas Pooran showed his form with the bat again with an 89 off 64 balls that included ten fours and three sixes as West Indies posted a reasonable score after begin sent in to bat.

Windies captain Kieron Pollard enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Pooran. The skipper was unbeaten on 74 from 51 balls.

The visitors had scored 105 from the last eight overs. But it wasn’t enough.

India 316 for 6 (Kohli 85, Rahul 77, Sharma 63, Paul 3-59) beat West Indies 315 for 5 (Pooran 89, Pollard 74 not out, Saini 2-58) by four wickets
