Deyalsingh: Covid-19 Worse than World Wars, 9/11

THE Covid-19 pandemic is worse than the two World Wars and 9/11 put together.

This was the claim made Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh at the virtual press conference on Friday to give an update on Covid-19 in Trinidad and Tobago.

He said, “These are not normal times. This is not business as usual.

“This is worse than World War One, World War Two and 9/11 put together.”

Deyalsingh said the World Wars and 9/11 only threatened parts of the world, by the Covid-19 was a global pandemic with a million cases in 200 countries.

The Health Minister called on people to stay at home.

He said, “If you are reckless, you condemn your children, you condemn your parents, and you condemn your grandparents to death.”

Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram said there were cases where people died because they waited too long to go into the health care system.

He said, “You need to present yourself at an early date so we can know what we are dealing with.”
