As a result, there will be sounds and percussion effects of loud explosions in the surrounding communities of Cumuto and nearby areas.

The public is advised not to be alarmed and to keep livestock and pets secure as these sounds are similar to that heard during displays of fireworks.

The Defence Force and the TTPS apologised for any inconvenience caused but said the procedure was needed when dealing with the disposal of aged explosives.

The release stated that the explosions will be controlled with all necessary safety precautions.
