He wrote, “This alternative energy power generation project was conceptualised, negotiated and executed by the PNM government for the benefit of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.”
The agreements were executed in December 2022 after extensive, complex negotiations and the sod was turned in April 2023, he said.

Young stated, “This project is part of the plans that we developed to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago would fulfil its obligations to reduce GHGs and contribute to combating the effects of harmful climate change. We also commenced studies related to the pursuit of wind-generated power which are progressing quite nicely.”
The former prime minister also said the previous administration’s vision and implementation in the energy sector benefited Trinidad and Tobago greatly and will continue to benefit the country.

Earlier this week, a release from bpTT stated the electrons were successfully delivered to the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) sub-station at Brechin Castle – providing cleaner energy into the country’s electricity network after having been produced last week.
Members of the present administration toured the site in early July.
