Young: Energy Outlook Positive

MINISTER of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young is maintaining that the outlook on the energy sector remains positive.

Young made the statement as he met with officials from Methanex at the ministry’s head office on Monday.

In a media release, the ministry stated that Young and Permanent Secretary Penelope Bradshaw-Niles met with Methanex Corporation Senior Vice President-Finance and Chief Financial Officer Ian Cameron and Managing Director & President Methanex Trinidad and Tobago Colin Bain.

At the meeting, discussions surrounded the future expectations and continued investments of Methanex in Trinidad and Tobago’s petrochemical sector.

Young reassured the executives that his ministry will continue to collaborate and maintain their strong working relationships with Methanex for current and future projects within Trinidad and Tobago. 

The parties also discussed Methanex’s operations in Trinidad, Carbon Capture Sequestration and Utilisation and the future expansion of the use of methanol, amongst other matters the ministry stated.

Methanex is the world’s largest producer and supplier of methanol to major international markets. 

In addition to their operations in Trinidad and Tobago and the United States, Methanex currently has production sites in Chile, Egypt, New Zealand with their headquarters in Vancouver, Canada.
