THE Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has announced a Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert #1.
The alert takes effect on Thursday, May 29, from 5 am to 4 pm.
TTMS issued the alert on Wednesday, indicating a medium chance (60%) of isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms due to a passing Tropical Wave. The most impactful weather is expected over southern Trinidad as the morning progresses.
TTMS said gusty winds may occur near heavy showers and thunderstorms, with street flooding and localised ponding likely in areas of heavy downpours.
The alert covers Trinidad and, to a lesser extent, Tobago.
People are urged to secure loose outdoor items. Motorists and residents in flood-prone areas should be cautious and take necessary precautions to reduce impact.
