DIRECTOR of operations of Woodford Café at Price Plaza Chaguanas died in a vehicle accident on Monday afternoon.
The accident took place on the southbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway near Grand Bazaar around 2.30 pm.
Police reports are that he was driving south when he lost control of his Kia Sportage SUV which overturned several times.
His death has brought the road fatality figure for the year to 27.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in its mobile app had appealed at 5 pm to motorists to exercise patience as the accident resulted in an increase in traffic congestion.
Highway patrol officers were at the scene assisting with directing traffic until late evening.
President of Arrive Alive Sharon Inglefield shared her sentiments regarding the death of Hatem with AZP News.
She said, “Tragic loss of life once again! Our sincere condolences to the family.”
Inglefield said several factors could be involved in what causes a vehicular death
including one’s health.
She made yet another appeal for drivers to exercise road caution.
“We appeal to all drivers to be responsible not only for your own safety but that of other drivers, and vulnerable road users,” Inglefield said.
