A WOMAN who was attacked near the Couva Fire Station has died.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that around 9.05 pm on Wednesday, officers from the Couva CID and Central Division Task Force (CDTF) Area South responded to an emergency report made by a male resident.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers found a woman unresponsive with a visible wound to her chest. She was immediately conveyed to the Couva District Health Facility in critical condition.
The woman has been identified as 47-year-old Kamnee Thackurdeen.
Preliminary findings revealed that the initial report did not match with initial observations and officers immediately detained a male relative.

A firearm with ammunition were recovered at the scene.
The male relative is currently assisting investigators.
Following the victim’s passing, the matter was now being treated as a homicide, the TTPS stated.
The TTPS extended condolences to the family of the deceased and assured the public of its continued commitment to a thorough investigation.
