A WOMAN and two men were scheduled to appear in court on Monday charged with sexual and physical abuse to three children.
They were held and charged with the offences arising from three separate reports by three female minors, police reported on Monday.
Police stated that the accused were charged by officers attached to the Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) and were expected to appear at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court.
In the first incident, CPU officers charged a male security guard, 36, of Cumuto on February 27 with one count of sexual penetration and one count of sexual touching of a female minor. He was arrested on February 26 in connection with a report made by the alleged victim in September 2020. He was charged by WPC Spencer.
In the second incident and third incidents, a 26-year-old Maraval man and Carenage woman were charged with one count of cruelty of a child following investigations into two separate reports of alleged physical abuse by two female minors. The charges were laid by WPCs Johnson-Eccles and Beckles respectively. According to the minors, they were both at home when their father and mother allegedly assaulted them with household items and bare hands.
Investigations led to the arrest of the man and woman on February 26. Officers attached to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) assisted. Investigations were supported by Snr Supt. Oswain Subero of the IATF, acting Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP Roberts, Sgt James and WPC Dorman of the CPU.
