Why PM not at Post-Cabinet Media Briefing

WHY is Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar not attending post-Cabinet media briefings?
This is a question being asked not just by journalists but other members of the public.
On Thursday, during the post-Cabinet media briefing held at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s, AZP News asked if there was any particular reason why the prime minister was not in attendance, as the media would have liked to ask questions concerning the brewing tensions between the US and Venezuela.

Answering the question was Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Nicholas Morris who has hosted several post-Cabinet media briefings before.
He said, “As we have said regularly at these meetings, many a times, you walk into this building and the prime minister is here in meetings.”
Morris also said the issue has “been well ventilated by the prime minister in the media in the past week and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and I am sure in the future and in the coming days, they will continue to comment on that.”

Since the United National Congress (UNC) formed the new government in May, Persad-Bissessar was the main speaker for the initial post Cabinet media briefing on May 8 when she announced that Cabinet note number one would be to amend the Children’s Life Fund Act, a measure that was carried through and approved by Parliament.

She was also present for other post-Cabinet media briefings in May and on June 5 which was held at the Red House in Port of Spain.
The June 5 post-Cabinet media briefing was the last Persad-Bissessar attended in person.
