A VIDEO showing a white substance being blown on land along the Manzanilla stretch is not snow but foam from the sea.

The video which was shared many times on social media on Friday, created excitement for many who had not seen something like that before including chairman of the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation Raymond Cozier.

Cozier who received the video said he sent it to his family members abroad and made inquires from the local fishermen.

But the sight was not rare to fishermen who explained that they were accustomed to seeing such adding that signified a good fishing time especially for mullet.

Fisherman Thomas Guy said, “That is a normal thing. It happens every time the breeze is high. It pushes the froth to the road.”

He said, “I do not have any scientific explanation  for it. We are accustom to seeing it so it does not really bother us. What happens is that when the wind is really high, it sends the froth sometimes, three to five feet in the air and into the roads. It is certainly not a threat to anyone. It is actually quite fun especially if you have never experienced it before.”

Guy said fishermen would be looking forward to catching mullets because currently, mullets were in laying season and would come ashore to feed on the froth.

He told AZPNews.com that usually at this time, there is that type of occurrence. On Friday, it occurred around 6am and lasted for about three hours. He said there was a possibility it might occur again on Saturday.
