MORE than 15 facilities of the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) were being restored on Monday evening.
WASA reported that its facilities mainly in north Trinidad and Tobago were affected by persistent rainfall associated with Hurricane Beryl.
In north Trinidad, ten surface water treatment facilities were affected while in Tobago, six were affected.
The only ones restored to service by 5.30 pm on Monday was the Charlotteville WTP in Tobago and Las Cuevas plant in Trinidad.
WASA stated in an update at 5 pm that cleaning works were ongoing and were expected to be completed by 7 pm on Monday for the Tompire, L&N, Acono and Caura Water Treatment Plants.
Areas affected by those plants are: Toco, Balandra, Maracas, St.Joseph, El Dorado, Tacarigua, parts of Tunapuna.
Service is expected to return by 10 pm for the Guanapo, Matura and La Pastora facilities. Areas affected by those facilities are: parts of Arima, Pinto Rd, Mt Pleasant, Calvary Hill, Matura, La Pastora and Lopinot.
By 8 am on Tuesday, residents in Valencia and La Fillete serviced by the Quare and La Fillette plants should have their water supply restored.
In Tobago, the Richmond facility was expected to be fully operational again by 6 pm on Monday, WASA stated.
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) was working to restore power to the Bloody Bay and King’s Bay plants by 8 pm on Monday.
And by 8 am on Tuesday, the Hillsborough West facility should be returned to service, WASA stated.
