PEOPLE are giving frivolous reasons for going into Port-of-Spain during the State of Emergency in place to stop gatherings and curb the spread of Covid-19 in Trinidad and Tobago.
ASP Dhanraj Ramesar, of the Inter-Agency Task Force, told AZPNews.com this during a roadblock exercise just after the curfew at 7pm on Friday.
There is a 7pm to 5am curfew in place for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From Monday to Thursday the curfew is from 9pm to 5am.
Speaking on the Eastern Main Road in Laventille, Ramesar said during the day he was involved in a number of roadblocks and when officers stopped people they gave various reasons for being outside.
He said one woman said she was going into Diego Martin to give a friend $200, while a family of four said they just wanted to see how Port-of-Spain was looking during the SoE.
Ramesar said a number of people were not wearing their masks properly.
He said the police will be conducting a number of exercised during the curfew period.
