A VENEZUELAN woman is among eight persons arrested for varying offences in Mayaro.
They were arrested as part of the ongoing Operation Blue Line exercises, conducted in the Eastern Division on Wednesday.
The exercise was conducted between 3 pm and 6 pm by officers of Mayaro Criminal Investigations Department, Task Force and the Canine Unit, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated in a media release on Thursday.
One Austria Glock 19 Pistol was recovered, along with one magazine and ammunition. Quantities of cocaine and marijuana were also seized.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Khan and supervised by acting Inspector Mahabir and acting Sgt Mohammed.
In a separate exercise, the North Central Division Task Force, with the assistance of the Canine Unit conducted an exercise between the hours of 3 am and 7 am, in Area West of the North Central Division.
Officers acting on intelligence, proceeded to Monte Grande, where a search was conducted along a river bank where one pistol, five rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana were recovered.
That exercise was spearheaded by ACP Subero, Snr Supt Ramphall and Supt Nowbutt and coordinated by ASP Ramharrack and Insp Greene.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
