A CUTLASS-wielding pupil of the Tranquility Secondary School was apprehended by an adult on Wednesday.
A video circulating on social media showed National Maintenance Training and Security Company Limited (MTS) personnel struggling to take the cutlass from the male pupil.
Screams of delight and laughter could be heard from the schoolchildren in the video.
AZP Newsalsowas informed that a parent was on the school’s compound with a weapon.
Police intervention was sought.
While no one was physically hurt, two teachers suffered an anxiety attack with one receiving permission to leave school early, school sources said.
The incident happens one day after Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly said in the Senate that support would be provided to schools as needed especially if a grave criminal activity has taken place in the school’s vicinity.
Last year November, Tranquility Secondary School pupils involved in a fight causing injury to their principal Ann-Margaret Robinson were suspended.
AZP News has contacted Education Minister Nyan Gadsby-Dolly for comment on the matter.
