THE United National Congress has won the Arima Northeast district by one vote after a recount was completed on Thursday.
In a release the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) stated that the UNC’s candidate
Jairzinho Domingo Gustav Rigsby won by one vote.
At the close of the poll on Monday both the PNM and UNC candidates each received 623 votes.
The PEP candidate received 81 votes. This is the result of the recount, on Thursday:
- People’s National Movement (PNM) 623
- Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) 81
- United National Congress (UNC) 624
The recount in the electoral district of Maracas/Santa Margarita and the second recount of the electoral district of Lengua/Indian Walk are still in progress, the EBC stated.
