FITZERALD Hinds appointment as Minister of National Security is a worse decision than the appointment of his predecessor Stuart Young.
This is according to the United National Congress (UNC).
In a release on Tuesday, the UNC stated that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s choice “is totally unacceptable” with even People’s National Movement (PNM) stalwarts denouncing it.
The party is calling for Dr Rowley to explain his reasons for selecting Hinds to that position.
The UNC reminded the public of previous statements made by Hinds concerning citizens which were “hateful, offensive and repugnant.”
Hinds, the party claims once referred to members as vampires and alligators who scorned persons shaking hands with UNC’s political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
The UNC stated, “Just as elections have consequences, Mr Prime Minister, words matter. If the Prime Minister stands by this appointment which offends all decent and right-thinking citizens, even persons in his own party are calling on him to revoke the assignment, we call on him to explain and justify the above utterances by Fitzgerald Hinds.
“The Opposition demands this accountability from the Prime Minister in the name of the people.”
