TWO Mayaro farmers who were cutting down a tree were killed by it.
Information from leader of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team Captain Vallence Rambharat is that around midday on Thursday, the men were felling a huge hogplum tree inside Red Road, Grand Lagoon, Mayaro when the accident occurred.
Nicholai Jennings, 27, and Herbert Redhead, 68, of Taylor Street, Radix Village, Mayaro died after the tree split in two and fell on them.
ASP Jankee and Sargeant Naim Mohammed responded, while Fire Services, family members, villagers and the Hunters Search and Rescue Team also assisted.
