ALL Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) service centres will be closed today (Monday July 1, 2024) due to the impending passage of Hurricane Beryl.
T&TEC stated on Sunday via media release that its emergency Call Centre remains operational and is fully staffed, with additional people assigned to manage all incoming calls.
Updates on reports will be available on the 800 numbers via an automated message. Additional updates and safety advice will also be made available on T&TEC’s Facebook page, WhatsApp channel and website and via the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM).
Emergency numbers are 800-8832 (TTEC) and 800-2852 (BULB).
The Commission has also activated its emergency response plans and crews are on standby to commence restoration efforts as soon as possible. T&TEC also urges members of the public to be extremely caution.
T&TEC also urges members of the public to be extremely cautious and take every precaution to protect themselves from life threatening danger.
Persons who experience flooding should exercise extreme caution when walking/ standing in flood waters as they could be at risk for shock or electrocution.
Turn off your main breaker if your electrical outlets or connections have been or are likely to be breached by water.
Do not stand on wet surfaces while handling electrical equipment such as cords, power tools, plugs or outlets as this exposes you to shock or electrocution.
