ACTING Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin has the capacity to unite the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and restore confidence.
This is the opinion of the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries (TTCSI) who extended congratulations to Benjamin on his recent elevation to the office.
TTCSI in a media release on Thursday stated, “Given the longevity of Commissioner Benjamin’s service in the TTPS, we are of the opinion that he has the capacity to unite the TTPS, bring our people together and to restore a level of confidence within the police service and in the minds of all citizens. This will redound to the benefit of not only the TTPS but all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.”
The TTCSI as the umbrella organisation for the services sector said it remained committed to collaboration with Benjamin, the government and all stakeholders as to bring back a level of all-round stability and confidence in the protective services especially during the State of Emergency.
On Wednesday, Parliament approved the notification of President Christine Kangaloo regarding the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Junior Benjamin, to act as Commissioner of Police as the investigations continue into the allegation of misbehaviour in public office involving the Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher.
