TT UWI Students to Face 2 Sets of Quarantine

TRINIDAD and Tobago students at The University of the West Indies (UWI) campuses in Cave Hill in Barbados and Mona in Jamaica will be allowed to return home in June.

But they must spend 14 days in quarantine before arriving in Trinidad where they will spend another 14 days in state quarantine.

This was revealed by Minister of National Security Minister Stuart Young at the virtual media conference of the Ministry of Health on Monday.

He said his ministry was making arrangements with Caribbean Airlines to have them home in the first week of June.

The minister said there was limited state quarantine facilities and the letting people back home has to be managed properly.

Young said he has receiving requests from people all over the world in places such as Ireland, Germany, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and Canada to come back home.

He said there were more than 300 locals on cruise ships who also want to return home.

TT borders have been closed since March 23 in an effort to fight the Covid-19.
