TRINIDAD and Tobago national are to benefit from 2,000 jobs aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
This is a step forward in building a new relationship between the cruise line and the Government.
Carvalho told AZP News on Tuesday, “This crew recruitment process has a tremendous amount of opportunities for the country. It offers employment for our citizens who would be paid in US currency. It allows our citizens to be ambassadors for this country as they interact with the passengers onboard the ships. It creates a new awareness of T&T as a tourist destination for future vacations by the cruise ship passengers.”
He added that the initiative will also bring T&T closer to the cruise lines for future planning of ships itineraries, as there would be a new demand by passengers for ships to include T&T.
“So, this employment opportunity for T&T nationals is a good step forward with lots of added benefits,” Carvalho said.
Minister of Tourism Randall Mitchell on Monday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cruise Line.
Speaking at the signing, Mitchell said he expected that government will deepen ties with Royal Caribbean in terms of trade in the next coming months.
