T&T Gets World Summit Award

Trinidad and Tobago has been named among the 45 winners of the World Summit Awards (WSA 2024) for initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Caribbean country had been among 63 countries that were originally shortlisted for the award to be handed out in India next week in Hyderabad, India.

According to the Network of Rural Women Producers of Trinidad and Tobago (NRWPTT),  Trinidad and Tobago will now have the opportunity to present its winning entry, under the category “Government and Citizen Engagement” to the jury for the final winner of the award during April 6-9.

In addition, NRWPTT president, Gia Gaspard-Taylor, who is also the UNESCO World Summit Awards National Expert, will  address the event on Tuesday April 8, on the theme  “The Human Costs of Digital Divides”.

She will be part of a panel that will be moderated by Dr Peter A Bruck, an entrepreneurial scholar with a strong interest in media and tech systems and social transformation and justice.

The NRWPTT said that the Trinidad and Tobago Local TT – Public Engagement and Service Delivery Platform exemplifies the power of technology to transform lives.
