THE Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued an Adverse Weather Alert Yellow Level due to the passage of a tropical wave.
In an update on Friday morning, the Met Office said the alert has been issued from Friday at 10am to 6pm.
TTMS stated, “Rainfall activity of varying intensities is expected over the next several hours due to the passage of a Tropical Wave. While impactful activity is not forecast to be continuous over the period, there is a high (70%) chance of intermittent heavy rain/showers and isolated thunderstorms, which can lead to street/flash flooding and localised ponding.”
Officials stated in the event of heavy showers/thunderstorms, gusty winds in excess of 45 km/hr may be experienced, where landslides/landslips are likely in areas so prone.
