TROPICAL Storm Grace has traversed overnight across the Leeward Islands and is now in the Caribbean Sea.
Trinidad and Tobago Metrological Service (TTMS) meteorologist, Paula Wellington said, “Tropical Storm Grace was located at 5pm approximately 245km southeast of the Puerto Rico.”
The Met Office said that the system was moving west-north-westward near 26 km/hr, away from the Leeward Islands.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for:
- Saba and Sint Eustatius
- Sint Maarten
- St Martin and St. Barthelemy
- US Virgin Islands
- Puerto Rico, including Vieques and Culebra
- Dominican Republic from the southern Haitian border to Samana
A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area.
However, adjustments are expected to some of these warnings as Grace moves away from the Leeward Islands.
TTMS stated, “At this time, the system poses no direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago or Grenada and its dependencies.”
