THE Office of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has responded to the letter from the Trinidadian pundit who had requested vaccines for Trinidad and Tobago.
Pundit Vijay Persad Seetahal of the Shri Krishna Dharma Sabha (SKDS) Hindu temple in Brampton, Ontario had written the Canadian government requesting vaccines. Following his letters, T&T received 80,000 plus AstraZeneca vaccines.
The letter from the Prime Minister’s Office dated August 11 states, “On behalf of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, I would like to acknowledge receipt of your correspondence of June 25, 2021 in which you raised an issue that falls within the responsibility of the Honourable Karina Gould, Minister of International Development.
“Please be assured that your comments have been carefully reviewed. I have taken the liberty of forwarding a copy of your correspondence to Minister Gould, who, I am certain, will wish to give your views every consideration.”
Persad Seetahal told AZPNews.com upon the receipt of the letter on Monday that he was pleased the office responded even though Canada was gearing up for its general election next month.
He said, “I hope this brings good news for us all.”
Persad Seetahal who wrote thank you letters to all the officials involved, said he would have also been requesting the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for T&T. The US donated Pfizer vaccines did not yet arrive at the time of his correspondence.
