A TRANSITION team has been appointed to make the scrap metal industry a regulated one.
The team is made up of former government minister Sadiq Baksh as chairman, and includes President of the Trinidad and Tobago Scrap Iron Dealers Association (TTSIDA) Allan Ferguson, Isa Mohammed, vice chairman of Community Outreach Peter Fletcher, attorney Radeyah Ali, Adupson Toby, Shamshad Mohammed and innovation specialist Tracey Aleong.
In a release, Ferguson said the team was committed to ensuring that the scrap metal industry makes a smooth transition to the regulated sector achieving full compliance with the new regulations with a firm understanding of the role the industry plays in reducing, reusing, recycling, upcycling and sustainable development of Trinidad and Tobago.
He said the team will begin community outreach, education and social responsibility programmes.
