A 49-year-old Crown Point, Tobago, man has been charged with the murder of his sister-in-law.
Hilton Ollivierre, a straightener of Tobago, appeared virtually before a Master of the High Court on Wednesday, charged with the murder of Deborah Gopaul, which occurred on March 26, 2024.
He appeared before Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami.
The Sufficiency Hearing date has been set for January 30, 2025.
Gopaul, 56, of Crown Point, Tobago was found dead inside a burning vehicle around 9.20 pm, on March 26, 2024 along the Claude Noel Highway.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One Sub Office, Tobago, conducted extensive investigations into the matter and subsequently arrested one male suspect with the assistance of the Tobago Divisional Task Force, the Research Analytical Unit and the Criminal Records Office.
The investigation was supervised by ASP Bridglal, Insp Mungroo, acting Insp Joefield and Sgt George, all of HBI Region One, Sub Office, Tobago.
Ollivierre was charged by PC Wharwood, also of HBI, Region One, Sub Office, Tobago, on May 21, 2024, following advice from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC.
