ALL Tobago beaches that were closed one week ago after a shark attack on an Englishman have been opened.
Last Friday, Peter Smith, 64, went for a swim at Courland Bay also called Turtle Bay and was bitten by a bull shark ten metres from shore.
He sustained serious injures and was air lifted from the Scarborough General Hospital to the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Following the attack the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) closed all the beaches on the southwest coast of Tobago from Plymouth to Store Bay.
In a release on Friday, the Office of the Chief Secretary of the THA stated that all beaches and facilities in Tobago were open as of May 3, 2024.
It stated that the Tobago Management Agency (TEMA), led by its Director Allan Stewart has been spearheading meeting with several stakeholders to refine the Tobago Marine Safety Plan.
