POLICE are investigating threats made against Minister of Finance Devendranath Tancoo and Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander.

According to police reports, around 6pm on Saturday a man dressed in dark clothing and armed with a cutlass arrived on a bicycle at Tancoo’s Fyzabad residence, where he caught the attention of one of Tancoo’s female relatives.

The relative reported the man called to her and asked her to relay the message, “Tell Mr Tancoo to tell the Minister of Homeland Security there is a wave of crime in Fyzabad to beef up security and police and doh stay home”. The unidentified man then left.

The incident was reported to the Penal Police station and then passed on to the Southwestern Operations Centre.

Insp Gosine, PCs Cummings and Collins of the Divisional Task Force responded and searched the area, but no one matching the description was seen.

Investigations are still ongoing.

When contacted by AZP news, Tancoo said he preferred not to comment on the incident at this time.

Calls to Alexander went unanswered.
