THA Gets First Woman Secretary of Finance

PETAL-ANN Roberts will be the first-ever female Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy.

The announcement came from THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine on Thursday during the Draft Budget Debate in the Assembly Chamber.

She is expected to be sworn in on Friday as the new THA Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy.

Roberts, a mother of three, has replaced Councillor Certica Williams-Orr who held the position of Assistant Secretary of Finance.

Meanwhile, THA Chief Secretary has praised former Councillor Williams-Orr played in the administration until this juncture.

In a media release on Thursday, Augustine said Petal-Ann is a Chartered  Certified Accountant with 15 years of dedicated experience in the THA’s Public Service.

Additionally, she previously served in the capacity of Senior Financial Analyst and Chief Management Accountant under the Division of Finance for eight years and Office of the Chief Secretary seven years respectively.

Roberts also served as a Director under several state-owned companies both nationally and under the THA.

Augustine said, With a comprehensive background in financial management and strategic planning, Mrs Roberts has consistently demonstrated her expertise and leadership in various high-level roles.

“She brings a proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting and public sector accounting, reinforced by international certifications in public financial management and international public sector accounting standards.”
